We have a craft term planner that usually follows a theme. Each week a new craft activity is set up for children to create during the session.
Playgroup is the best place to allow children to make a mess and explore different textures.
NRPG have a variety of role play toys such as; farm animals, sea creatures, jungle animals, baby dolls and wooden house with people.
Building a tower of blocks and knocking it down is one of the children's favourite activities to do. We have different shape blocks for construction including, wooden blocks, duplo and large connector blocks.
Our cars are always a popular toy that children use each session. We also put out signs and cones to create obstacles to avoid.
We have a range of large equipment that encourages coordination and gross motor development. These include; a slide, stepping stones, a trampoline, foam shapes, steps, a wedge and a balance beam.
Children love painting each week. We use easels, but also use different tools and paints to create different textures and patterns.
We have a book area both indoors and outdoors providing children a quiet area to read with parent/guardian.
We cater for children from birth to 5 so we have an infant area with baby toys to allow a safe spot for tummy time, crawling and sitting up.
In the warmer months we provide water play activities for the children.
A few times a term we set up a messy play experience for the children to get their hands dirty. These experiences are great for children to feel sticky or slimy substances.
In the warmer months we like to spend more time outside so we have blocks, cars and building activities set up on our mats.
We have a large boat themed sand pit that children love to dig in. We have large trucks, play kitchens, pots, pans, buckets and spades.
We have plenty of bikes, scooters, trikes and infant ride on toys for all ages to enjoy.
We have climbing frames, planks and ladders out each week along with other activities such as balance beams stepping stones, hula hoops, soccer balls, footballs, tunnels, stilts and rockers.
When we have nice weather we like to bring painting outside and get creative.
In our fenced outdoor area we have a big cubby house that has recently been painted inside. It has a kitchen, table and chairs, pretend food and kitchen supplies to encourage imaginative play.
We provide picnic mats for our infant toys, allowing babies space to lie, sit or crawl around without being on the grass or tanbark.
During group time we sing and dance to the song "I like to Sing" by Justine Clark which is accompanied by bubbles. This is many children's favourite part of playgroup.
We sing nursery rhymes, finger rhymes and familiar action songs.
At the end of group time we sing our "Goodbye Song" .
Our Playgroup time is over
and we are going home
Goodbye! Goodbye!
It was lovely seeing you.
Good bye! Goodbye!
We will see you next week too.
Every week we read a picture story book usually linked to the weekly theme.
A variety of activities are set up in the hall for the children to explore. The activities may include; craft, painting, fine motor (puzzles, threading etc.), role play, building, gross motor (climbing, jumping, balancing) and ride ons.
At playgroup we like to sit together at the tables as a group to enjoy snack time. This allows our Facilitator to make any important announcements or reminders and the children begin to develop the important skill of sitting and eating with their friends.
Every session we plan to go outside so members are encouraged to bring clothing appropriate for wet or hot weather. Our outdoor activities consist of climbing, balancing, sand play, role-play, bike and scooter riding, ball play and messy play.
This is a great opportunity for children to learn skills to sit and listen to stories and songs. They develop their confidence throughout the year and join in with singing and dancing. At the end of every session we have our special song 'I like to Sing' accompanied by BUBBLES. A hit every week!
